~Traditional Clocks~

information
Pendulum clocks (wall clocks) were notoriously heavy and difficult to mount on flimsy walls. Therefore, they were traditionally hung on sturdy structural pillars—so much so that in Japan, they earned the widespread nickname hashira-dokei (literally "pillar clocks"). From winding the mainspring with a key to manually setting the time, these timepieces possess a simple yet sophisticated craftsmanship that is almost unimaginable in today's digital society.
Over the years, these evolved into cuckoo clocks (where a wooden bird pops out when the minute hand points to twelve) and battery-powered models, eventually leading to the digital clocks we use today. Looking back, the knowledge of people from past generations truly leaves a profound impression.
